Breakfast … a sacred act for many, and a headache for others. Sacrificing sleeping minutes, not knowing how to cook and not feel hungry in the morning are the most common excuses we hear for not having breakfast. If there is something true is that whoever skips breakfast has more risk of becoming overweight, is usually tired and exhausted during the day and it has even a greater risk of diabetes as we saw a couple of weeks ago in the article “The Importance of Having Breakfast”. Yet if we look at the most basic reason, isn’t it important to start the day with a full belly ? The common phrase “Full Stomach, Happy Heart” is not just a phrase, it’s a fact. So if you are someone who usually skips breakfast we invite you to give a try at least for 7 days, here at Live Life you will find many recipes to help you prepare a healthy, fun breakfast but most importantly a delicious one!
So today we wanted to try a change to the usual smoothie and this is making a smoothie bowl instead of a cup or glass. We will be preparing a smoothie as we usually do but then we’ll use it like milk or yogurt in your cereal. You can try the smoothie you want, but today we share a very nutritious mix that goes with almost any cereal rich in fiber and low in sugar. Bon Appetite!
Smoothie Bowl (serves 1)
- 1/2 banana
- 1/4 cup almonds
- 4 Dates
- 1/2 cup strawberries
- 1/3 cup unsweetened soy milk
- Cereal flakes and oatmeal (or any cereal you like preferably low sugar)
- Grated Coconut
1. On your processor or blender add all the ingredients of the smoothie until smooth.
2. In a bowl add the smoothie and put some of your favorite cereal, fruit and something sweet like shredded coconut for something more tasty. Here we show our specific preparation but remember that you can use your preferred cereal and fruits or anything that you have at home
